The doors!

Before
These doors were so ugly that when I first moved in my sister preferred curtains to these doors.

When she left I was tired of the dust bunny family that lived in the curtains so the doors went up.

With the extra paint left over from the sun room I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity the hide the green.

After 2 coats of paint they were no longer green!

So pretty!

Does anyone else have any item in their house they dislike like the green doors? If so leave a comment below!

Honey Bees!

Honey they let us have!
Today, I went to go learn about bees.

Why you ask? Why not is the first response. The second is that it was free. Third, I might do a farm thing so having them to come pollinate everything.

It was put on by New River Valley Beekeeper's Association.

I really enjoyed it. The whole talk took about an hour and fifteen minutes and we were able to ask questions at any point.

They talked about starting a hive, the different parts of a hive, behaviors of bees, when to start a new hive, where to put the hive, equipment you need, some laws, why New River Valley Beekeeper's Association is cool, and just other random facts and information.

I think some of the coolest information I found out is that the bees have about a 2 mile radius from their hive. Also that the honey combs are actually created at an angle to hold the nectar which is being turned into honey.  I also learned honey bees are not native to North America. Honey is measured in weight not it's volume.

Crazy right?

I went there instead of running or going to do the gym but I found it super helpful. I might not bee (ha ha, see what I did there) able to create a hive this year, but maybe next year.

Is anyone else into bee keeping? Let me know with a comment below.
