Hoof Fest 2015

This year I turn 29.

This is the end of my 20s.

So close to 30 it is a bit scary.

In celebration of this year I crossed off a bucket list item by eating Zebra meat. I've always wanted to eat zebra meat only because lions eat them. I figured if lions like them maybe I would too.

Around Christmas a friend of mine had a friend who had some exotic meats one of them being zebra. He asked if I still wanted to try it, and I was like, um yeah. So this meat traveled for miles from his friend, to him, to my parents,to me. It then said it my freezer for a few months. On Wednesday night I thawed it out and had it for dinner.

I called it Hoof Fest because we also ate lamb, beef, and venison. I tried to find bison but Kroger didn't have any when I went looking. 

I would like to tell you that the meal was amazing. We had little mini beef burgers, lamb burgers and a combination mini burgers, a beef gravy stew with the venison and then just sauteed zebra meat.

The zebra meat was very bland actually not much flavor. The lamb meat had more of a strong flavor than the zebra meat. However it was still good.

Plus, I was able to cross off a bucket list item that had been there for years. It has renewed my desire to revamp my bucket list.

Sun Room Makeover

Starting

One way to change the look of a room is to put a new coat of paint on it.

I think painting a room is like cleaning the junk drawer in your house for a few reasons.

The first is because you put it off as long as possible.

The second is that it takes 3 times longer than you estimated. When it comes to painting it is more due to lack of painting skills.

The third is that to get started the room/drawer first has to regurgitate all over the place and made a huge mess before one can go forward.

Well here it is the room makeover in a lot less time than it took.

Now the trim is painted.

April Fools Day

I like to think of April Fools Day as my pre-birthday. My mom found out she was having twins on April 1st 19somethinsomething.

Back then ultrasounds were only done if there were problems. Even though she had already had my brother and kept telling them this pregnancy was different no one listened.

When the actually did and saw there were two babies and not one she got to make some fun phone calls that day.

This year might not have been that epic but it was super close! Thanks to my good friend M. and a bunch of co-workers who know how to keep secrets, I had no idea what awaited me when I left work.

After I saw this, took some pictures I had to take the post it notes off my car. I kept going through a role call of who could have done it, I eventually came to the conclusion it was M.

I saw she had called, texted, and tagged me in a Facebook post. While I let her stew in uncertainty I went to the ABC store, picked up a bottle of her favorite rum, and drove to her house.

Once I was there she greeted me laughter and smiles and all I could do was say, "Well played ma'am, we'll played."

It was exactly what my day needed.
