Power Up!

*NOTE* So this is one of those events that happened about 2-3 months ago.

New Dude and I were thinking about having a craft night. Just a night of something random to do. The last time we had craft night we had come up with pipe cleaner people. You can see them here.

Well, we wanted to do something different, and we hadn't seen B. in a long time so we invited her over.

First, I impressed B. with my ability to cook, clean up, change, and have like 4 pots on the stove and dishes everywhere, all while telling stories, and I think avoiding burning anything. I have a track record of burning rolls. Her words when we sat down for pork chops and at least two sides an rolls were, something to the affect of wow, this actually good.

I had to ask, you thought it wasn't going to be? B. admitted she had been nevervous with the talking and the pots and the pans and things just kind of everywhere.

I wasn't offended, she just clearly hadn't seen me cook before.

Dinner was a success so we cleaned up and moved onto getting the project going.

Today's craft was the little power up people from Mario.

After searching for pictures we figured out the basic shapes and designs that we wanted to do for them.

Bowls were turned over and copied and random white rectangle shapes were cut out and pinned.

However, they got progressive worse.
The first one on the left is the first attempt, the middle is second, and the thir one looks like a wierd red glove.

The problem, besides having me behind the sewing machine, was the fact I wasn't measuring and not even really following my patterns when I did draw it.

The hardest part was actually attaching the stems to the mushroom top. We did it wrong with the first one, you can see by th black line that goes across the top of the head. We figured it out better for the second, we needed to sew the stem to the mushroom and then flip it out.

The second one looked a bit better even though it was skiny, but the thrid one, well, at this point, it had taken about 2 hours and was now kind of late. We gave up.

B. kept the niceish looking one. The second one we have on a bed and the third is sitting in the craft bin waiting to either get fixed, or give up it's stuffing for another attempt.

Has anyone else had a craft night that kind of failed? has anyone else made pillows out of a whim? If so let me know what you think with a comment below!
